Your role:

As Pack Operator you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pack equipment, including scheduling, shipping and receiving, inventory control, maintenance and sanitation. The pack operator works with the scheduler to coordinate packing and shipping dates of scheduled orders as well as to communicate product needs for packing. The pack operator also works with the production supervisor in the inventorying and ordering of packaging materials and the maintenance manager to discuss on preventative and reactive maintenance issues as well as material requests and scheduling repair days.

Your responsibilities:

  • Operate packer, palletizer and milling equipment.
  • Load/unload trucks using forklift or pallet jack.
  • Manage order schedule and daily inventory.
  • Prepare daily production report.
  • Prepare COA’s (Certificate of Analysis) for load orders.
  • Warehouse sanitation.
  • Analyze product with lab instruments.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance.

Pack/Warehouse/Mill

  • Achieve established Packing and Milling Capacities and Improve upon production rates
  • Minimize downtime and changeovers
  • Learn the complete operation of the production lines.  Weight calibration and programming
  • Work and communicate with other team members.
  • Implement and attain daily production Schedules provided by scheduler
  • Responsible for On-Time Delivery to Customers
  • Assure proper loading and sealing of delivery vehicles
  • Recognize and Implement proper GMPs
  • Increase knowledge of all equipment to eventually be able to run the line without help
  • Maintain and enforce food safety standards with drivers, customers, and visitors
  • Assure Product Quality and Service (Zero Defects Objective)
  • Operate in a safe and efficient manner at all times
  • Assure proper code dates, labeling, correct packaging, documentation, etc.
  • Provide relief in instances of absence for vacation, sick days, or personal holidays

Major activity areas of the position

  • Make sure product is packed in the correct bags, correct weights, correct code dates, and on schedule
  • Advise supervisors of all equipment problems or changes immediately upon notice of change
  • Learn to Minimize changeover downtime by pre-staging materials and making necessary changes on the run
  • Recommend, implement and communicate effect of all changes adopted to help impact location profitability and efficiency with the production systems
  • Work as a high-performance cross-functional team with other team members
  • Communicate employee self-development objectives to immediate supervisor
  • Minimize customer complaints and problem shipments due to service or flour quality during the milling, loading and packing process. Goal is zero customer complaints
  • Implement established employee safety policies, procedures and programs.  Participate in Toolbox meetings, Monthly Safety Training and Audits
  • Complete daily loading and OEE reports and logs immediately when done
  • Verify all shipments by referencing the register, customer order number.
  • Perform truck inspection report, forklift inspection report
  • Perform product and bag inventory as requested.  Report any bag inventory issues
  • Implement Sanitation Policy and Procedures for the warehouse area. All employees are required to keep the warehouse in a clean and sanitary condition
  • Monitor bag weight throughout the production run and document. Make adjustments as necessary to maintain bag weight tolerance and rejections
  • Communicate and Provide Requested Information and issues to Supervisor, Maintenance, Scheduling and Transportation in a timely manner

Essential skills and experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effectively use computer applications
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to lift 55lbs.
  • Ability to work in dusty conditions
  • Ability to work in hot/cold environments.
  • Ability to walk/stand on cement floors for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs/ladders.

Good to have:

  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Prior experience with manufacturing equipment
  • Experience operating mobile equipment including forklift, yard tractor, bobcat or Track Mobile; will train, as needed.

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.

COMPETITIVE COMPENSATION:

We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $17.00 - $22.62, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Primes - OIP, 5% Annual.
