Senior Product Owner – Master Data 

The Data Product Team at Ardent Mills is seeking an experienced Product Owner with specialized expertise in Master Data Management (MDM) to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will lead the development and management of the subset of products that impact Master Data, with a focus on MDM initiatives and Data Governance.

The Data Product Team serves as a bridge between business stakeholders and engineering to enable the collection of, and access to, critical data at Ardent Mills. Data Product is committed to leveraging cutting-edge data solutions to drive strategic business insights and operational excellence. All Product Owners on the Data Team play crucial roles in implementing the enterprise data strategy, with a focus on creating scalable, reliable, and high-performing data products for the business.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain delivery roadmap(s) for MDM solutions, ensuring roadmaps align with the overall data strategy, business objectives, and technological capabilities.
  • Oversee the data product lifecycle, focusing on design, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the implementation of data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality and compliance for all master data across impacted platforms and solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Product Owners to translate requirements into actionable data solutions.
  • Conduct thorough data quality assessments to support product lifecycles, data cleansing, and validation processes.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand pain points and make recommendations
  • Implement and maintain Master Data enhancements and solutions, ensuring consistency and reliability of critical data elements across platforms.
  • Develop and report on metrics to measure product success and performance
  • Work with Sr. Data Product Manager to ensure accuracy and alignment of stakeholder requirements and expectations with platform features, timelines, and required work to be done. 
  • Manage, delegate, and execute the delivery of features in product backlogs for multiple workstreams with no supervision.
  • Make decisions related to the product delivery process such as independently prioritizing features and making trade-offs during development.
  • Ensure user stories are written and adhere to the delivery team’s definition of done. Lead estimation and refinement sessions, backlog grooming/prioritization, sprint planning, and sprint reviews.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and training materials for data products and master data processes.
  • Promote data literacy and increase adoption rates of MDM solutions within the organization.
  • Remain current with data and technology trends and work with engineering to leverage technologies in a way that builds and optimizes data pipelines and products to scale.
  • Influence product owners in devising a sound community of practice in product delivery.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated track record of managing product lifecycle for multiple products in a product portfolio with no supervision.
  • Ability to lead tactical ceremonies associated with sprint cycles to include stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with large development teams, business analysts, and other cross-functional stakeholders for multiple workstreams to deliver continuous value.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable work for multiple application(s) that meet stakeholder needs.
  • Excellent leadership acumen to influence key stakeholders at all levels to drive an effective product portfolio.
  • Combination of technical understanding, business acumen, and relationship management skills to drive results in a cross-functional environment.
  • Quick learner in getting comfortable with the technology stack for effective delivery and strategy to deliver business solutions with technology.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Technology, Business or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in product management with a focus on data products and MDM
  • 3+ years managing the overall delivery of a product portfolio
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and querying languages (e.g. SQL)
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data architecture, and data governance principles
  • Experience with MDM principles, frameworks, and tools
  • Strong foundation with Agile Methodologies (i.e., Scrum, Lean, Kanban, SAFe, etc.)
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and project management skills

Nice to Have:

  • Certified Scrum Master designation
  • Certified Product Owner designation

COMPETITIVE COMPENSATION:

We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $86,200.00 - $114,915.90, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - MIP, 10% Annual.
