Your role:

As a Production Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient production of food safe flour from mill to customer including knowing and understanding our Final Product Zone and customer shipment requirements as well as logistics of equipment.

Your responsibilities:

Safety

  • Safety Champion, drive engagement and success of plant and personnel safety, food safety, quality policies, programs, and procedures in the mill including MSS and audit preparation.
  • Communicate as a liaison between staff and management to help everyone be heard.
  • Attend daily R&R meetings and take relative safety information back to the team
  • Provide guidance to operators on troubleshooting equipment to optimize operations.
  • Aid in planning and execution of maintenance items for repair days and downtimes both planned and unplanned. 
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned including working on plant teams, providing input on capital & focused improvement (FI) projects, 5S, training, center lining.
  • Coordinate and order supplies, as needed, through Jaggaer/Manager

Simplicity

  • Understand plant metrics, report, trend, and attend daily and weekly R/R meetings
  • Be a Subject matter expert on all plant equipment.  Be able to make repairs and maintain equipment for the plant installation not limited to equipment all other plant systems for example Mechanical conveying, spouting, gravity and pneumatic conveying, and electrical systems.
  • Be an integral part of Team Member training and verification of qualification and performance. Aid in onboarding to hires in the department.
  • Be ready to step into any position within the bulk department as necessary due to vacations and illness.

Trust

  • Provide peer to peer coaching when necessary to help in holding the team accountable.
  • Including the maximization of efficiencies in the department daily by understanding the production schedule, customer needs and specifications, and logistics of inbound and outbound vessels
  • Perform sanitation duties as assigned.
  • Use computers to operate process equipment, document production reports, shift reports, including production and maintenance issues. Assist in the optimization of equipment automation to make the process run smoother.
  • Fill out work orders, update data in the OEE tool, communicate issues and propose corrective actions. Use PRISM to open and close production orders
  • Interact with scheduler, elevator, miller, quality team, maintenance, toting, bulk, and feed to communicate workflow, schedule, and equipment issues.
  • Assist as needed within the facility in other areas, including but not limited to feed loadout, elevator, mill, and maintenance.
  • Perform the duties of Production Manager when the Production Manager is unavailable, which will include weekends, holidays, and on call. Call the department to support for the operations as necessary including both scheduling and directing contractors safely.
  • Autonomous work orders.
  • Aid Production Manager in producing personnel schedules.
  • Lead FI assignments & capital projects, as assigned by management
  • Oversee Contractor work, as required.
  • Provide tours to internal &/or external visitors.
  • Provide innovative solutions while troubleshooting.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years’ experience in plant operations.
  • Strong leadership behaviors.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving/decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in computer tools including email and spreadsheets.
  • Proficient in English both written and verbally.
  • Communication skills that provide a clear, concise, and timely message. Be able to clear the noise within the department, and work as an advocate for both the team and management.
  • High level of organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in a dusty environment and wear respiratory protection.
  • Able to work in hot and cold conditions for extended periods.
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders throughout the workday.
  • Able to stand through the entire workday.

Other considerations:

  • Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams.
  • Willing to take short term assignments to other Ardent Mills facilities as needed with proper notification and support.
  • Ability to read and understand flow diagrams or milling air and hydraulic systems.
  • Additional formal education or certifications.
  • Must meet the company performance standards for the job you are currently working.
  • Must be willing and able to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, 7-day weeks, and opposing shifts when needed.
  • Must be willing to get cross-trained in all mill operations positions for development within the facility and to provide any relief duties as needed.

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.

Competitive Compensation:

We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $26.00 - $34.57, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - OIP, 5% Annual.
