Utility Operator - Summer Student

Job Description

As Sanitation Utility Worker you will be responsible for general cleaning of interior and exterior of the buildings and site such as vacuuming, sweeping, picking up debris, shoveling up spills, dumping pails of product, blow downs, painting, washroom cleaning, mats, dumping garbage.

Your responsibilities:

  • Complete assigned sanitation tasks as set out in the Master sanitation schedule on time and to the prescribed standard as outlined in SOP.  Follow all safety and food safety requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits and follow up all action items as directed by Sanitation Team Lead.
  • Final Product Zone cleaning and inspection of Sifters, storage bins and other equipment. Follow strict cleaning requirements and complete all relevant permits and food safety checks to safeguard the integrity of our product. 
  • Additional Tasks as required, and job coverage as requested
  • Work as a member of a team to change the filter bags.  Clean out the bag housing and inspect for defects and pest activity.  Replace socks and ensure equipment is returned to full working order.
  • Complete all safety and Food safety training on time.
  • Learn multiple positions around the site as requested. 

Essential skills and experience:

  • Completion of high school diploma and attending a recognized Secondary education institution
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and outlook.
  • Commitment to safety and quality, including HACCP, GMPs and WHMIS.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; positively contributing to a healthy work environment

Good to have:

  • Able to communicate clearly in spoken and written English
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and Strong attention to detail
  • Able to learn multiple roles

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Capable of performing physical requirements of role, including lifting up to 50 kg using proper lifting techniques.
  • Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
