Assistant Quality Manager
Your role:
As Assistant Quality Manager, you will be responsible for the compliance of quality and food safety regulations and policies at this multi-faceted facility. You will identify opportunities and make recommendations to simplify and streamline day to day work processes. You will have accountability for a broad range of Quality and Food Safety management, which may include Integrated Pest Management, Elevator, and Bulk loadout.

Your responsibilities:
- Analyze, interpret, and implement Quality/Food Safety policies and customer standards
- Maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, quality specifications, safety standards, pest control and sanitation practices
- Ownership within Integrated Pest Management and Finished Product Control Programs
- Maintain customer audit programs and agreed 3rd party certification
- Manage customer related documentation, assist in complaints investigation and ensure active customer support
- Build relationships with local customers to uncover opportunities that lead to value creation and strengthen ties between our companies
Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with 1 ½ -3 years or High School diploma/GED with 5 ½ -7 years of Quality Systems and Food Safety experience in flour milling or related manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of the following programs:
- Food Safety Plan
- Integrated Pest Management
- Good Manufacturing Practices
- Food Microbiology and Chemistry
- FDA and USDA Regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and help solve problems
- PCQI and HACCP certification
Good to have:
- 2 years of management experience
- Knowledge of Grain Processing/Milling Industry
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations; ability to deliver aligned and effective processes
- Experience teaching and training others on food safety
- Knowledge of GFSI Audit Standards
- Experience with project management, including applying structured approach to planning, administering and completing projects successfully
- Experience working effectively with customers, including solving customer problems
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to complete elementary statistical analysis
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions (With or without reasonable accommodation):
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as is required by the operating areas (i.e. safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection and, at times, a respirator)
- Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work a machine paced continuous process that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with conditions which include:
- Heat/cold temperatures (inclement weather)
- Indoor/outdoor environment
- Dusty environment
- Noisy environment
- Frequent moving/vibration/ or other motion of equipment/processes
- Elevated places, to include stairs/ladders
- Ability to perform work at a computer and other administrative/managerial tasks
Other Considerations:
- Willing to work weekends, holidays, 7-day weeks, and opposing shifts, when needed
- Ability to travel 5-10%
- Willing to relocate as promotional opportunities exist throughout career
