Compensation Manager

Your role

The Compensation Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing compensation programs that align with organizational goals and ensure competitive pay practices. This role will ensure all elements of compensation are aligned with the organization’s total rewards model prioritized through internal alignment within Human Resources to inspire, support, and reward our team membersAs a hands-on leader, this role involves analyzing market trends, developing salary structures, overseeing incentive programs, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Compensation Manager will also supervise a Compensation Analyst, providing guidance on salary benchmarking, job evaluations, and pay equity assessments. 

Your Responsibilities 

This role is critical in ensuring fair and competitive compensation practices while supporting organizational growth.  

Compensation Strategy & Program Development 

  • Design and implement compensation policies, salary structures, and incentive programs. 

  • Conduct market research to ensure competitive pay practices as well as internal equity. 

Cyclical Compensation Processes 

  • Manage the system requirements, processes and communications for the annual year end compensation processes including incentive payments.   

  • Partner with Finance on the annual budgets and accrual reporting for workforce planning, annual compensation process and incentives 

Compliance & Regulatory Adherence 

  • Ensure compensation practices comply with labor laws and industry regulations. 

  • Maintain documentation for audits and reporting requirements. 

  • Stay updated on legal changes affecting compensation policies. 

Collaboration & Communication 

  • Work closely with HR Business Partners, finance, and People Leaders to align compensation strategies with business objectives. 

  • Serve as an internal consultant on all related compensation matters; partnering with HR stakeholders, managers, and leadership to develop, implement and administer compensation policies and programs. 

  • Develop materials and conduct leader and employee education on Ardent Mills compensation policies and practices 

  • Coordinate with HRIS to manage compensation tools, including system enhancements and administration.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Oversee Compensation Analyst, providing mentorship and performance feedback. 

  • Ensure accurate and appropriate job evaluations, benchmarking, equity analysis and pay recommendations. 

Education Requirements (or equivalent experience) 

A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years’ experience setting and managing compensation strategies and structures. 

 

Preferred Certifications 

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) – WorldatWork 

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) – Society for Human Resource Management 

Necessary Skills 

  • Communication, Collaboration & Negotiation – Strong ability to listen to business needs and convey compensation strategies to align stakeholders. 

  • Analytical & Data Interpretation – Ability to analyze compensation trends and salary data. 

  • Attention to Detail – Ensuring accuracy in pay structures and compliance documentation. 

  • Leadership & Team Management – Serve and a thought leader in Compensation.   

  •  Ability to translate business needs into effective strategies and outcomes 

  • HR Software Proficiency – Experience with HRIS and compensation management tools including Workday and Payscale.

Competitive Compensation:

We provide market-driven base pay, based on skills, abilities, and level of experiences. Our salary ranges are broad, and individual salary will be market competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of skills and level of experience. The starting range for this position is $102,600.00 - $136,896.10, with additional earning potential possible commensurate with experience. Additionally, we believe that our team members are the reason for our success and all team members are incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results achieved. While the specific bonus plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions, the targeted bonus plan and targeted percentage amount for this role is Bonus - MIP, 15% Annual.
